GOALIE DR JR MENTOR
Mitch Harris, is the primary instructor for the Goalie Dr. Junior Mentor program. Mitch’s background makes him the ideal coach for this program.
While he did not play ice hockey growing up, he was not only a student of the game, but also of the position as well. He was 38 when he got his first set of pads and realized that he needed to dedicate himself to learning the proper fundamentals of the position. At the same time his son, who was 6, started to play hockey. Mitch quickly learned that being a goalie and being a goalie parent require different skills.
Mitch is a USA Hockey Level 3 coach and has completed his mite, squirt, peewee and bantam age specific modules. In addition to being part of the Goalie Dr. coaching staff, he has learned from other distinguished goalie coaches including:
•Steve McKichan (Future Pro)
•Jukka Ropponen (GoaliePro – Finland)
•Jack Hartigan (FinnGoalie, Halifax, NS)
•Pierre Groulx (Ottawa Senators)
•Kyle MacDonald (Hockey New Brunswick)
•Magnus Wennstrom (Rogle BK, Sweden)
•Yona Fioravanti (Watch The Puck, Rochester)
•Alex Pastuzek (USA Hockey, Wissahickon Skating Club, CB West High School)
